About Quinn Developments

A South Essex building family for over 30 years, now building kitchen extensions only: a trusted team, a site supervisor who deals with everyone, and £2 million public liability cover.

Quinn Developments is a South Essex building company run by Loz Quinn. Our family has been building for over 30 years, and the company as it is today was set up in 2019. We design and build kitchen and kitchen-diner extensions across Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, Rayleigh and the rest of South East Essex, and kitchen extensions are all we do.

A trusted team, and one person running your site

Our trusted team have been with us for many years, and all our subcontractors are fully qualified and insured. On every job a site supervisor deals with everyone on site, from the groundworks and brickwork through to the plumbing, plastering and finishing, so the right trade turns up at the right time and you are not the one chasing them.

  • A site supervisor who deals with everyone. One person on site who knows what is happening that week and who is coming next.
  • Qualified people in every trade. Every subcontractor on your job is fully qualified and insured.
  • Someone you can talk to. Loz runs the company and knows every job we have on.

Qualified, registered and insured

  • Public liability insurance up to £2 million, so you and your neighbours are covered while we work.
  • Electrics: Loz is an electrician, TrustMark registered and a member of a government-approved competent person scheme for electrical work, so the wiring in your extension is certified and you get the certificate at the end.
  • Plumbing and heating: our plumbers are Gas Safe registered.

The electrics, planned in-house

A new kitchen lives or dies by its lighting, sockets and appliance circuits: where the island gets its power, how the lighting works over the table, where the hob and oven circuits run. Because Loz is an electrician, the electrics in your extension are planned from the start, rather than left to whoever turns up at first fix.

Why only kitchen extensions

A kitchen extension is its own kind of build. It has to join an old house to a new room, move the drainage and the kitchen waste, carry a wide opening on steel, let in as much light as the rules allow, and be ready for a kitchen to be fitted the day the plaster dries. Doing that one job again and again is how we get it right. It is also why we can give you an honest guide price in about a minute, and why our guides to each type of extension, from a side return to a double-storey, and to planning permission go into the detail they do.

Where we work

We are local to South East Essex and build across Southend-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Rayleigh, Wickford, Benfleet, Hockley, Canvey Island, Rochford and Hadleigh, and further out to Hullbridge, Maldon, Witham and Tiptree. When you enquire, your details come straight to us. They are never sold on or shared with other firms.

How we work

Every extension follows the same steps: a guide price, a free visit to measure up and talk it through, a clear written quote, the drawings and approvals, then the build and handover. Our how we work page takes you through each stage and how long it usually takes.

About Quinn Developments

Who will I deal with?

Loz, who runs Quinn Developments, and your site supervisor, who deals with every trade on site. You will know who is coming to site and what they are doing that week.

Do you use subcontractors?

Yes. Our trusted team have been with us for many years, and all our subcontractors are fully qualified and insured. Your site supervisor deals with all of them, so you are not coordinating trades yourself. We also recommend the architects we work with to draw up your plans, and a structural engineer designs any steelwork.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry public liability insurance up to £2 million. Our electrical work is TrustMark registered and certified under a competent person scheme, and our plumbers are Gas Safe registered.

Do you work on listed buildings?

No. We do not take on listed buildings. If your home is in a conservation area, that is fine: we check what applies to your address before any design work starts.

How do I get started?

Use the 60-second estimator for a guide price, or send us a message and we will arrange a free visit to measure up and talk it through.
